SPICA adalah girlband baru dari Korea yang bernaung dibawah manajemen B2M Entertainment. Girlband ini beranggotakan 5 gadis cantik dengan karakter yang berbeda-beda, salah satunya ialah Yang Jiwon. Sebelum bergabung dengan SPICA, Jiwon adalah salah satu anggota T-ara. Dia memutuskan untuk keluar dari T-ara pada 2009.

     Personal SPICA selain Jiwon adalah Park Na Rae(mantan salah satu kontestan superstar K2), Kim Boa, Park Joo Hyun (Rapper di MV Heo Young Saeng's Let It Go), dan Kim Bo Hyung. 

Perwakilan dari B2M Entertaiment menyatakan “Mereka memiliki bakat musik luar biasa. Tidak hanya menyanyi dan menari, tetapi juga menulis dan mengaransemen lagu.”. B2M Entertaimen menuturkan bahwa anggota SPICA telah melalui pelatihan ekstensif sebelum membentuk girlband ini. Mereka hebat menangani berbagai genre.

     Pada tanggal 10 Januari SPICA telah merilis MV debut mereka ke publik dengan judul Potently. SPICA menyuguhkan lagu bergenre ballad sebagai karya pertama mereka. Memang langka rasanya ada girlband yang memilih genre musik ballad sebagai debut pertama, apalagi Jiwon yang terbiasa dengan musik ceria ala T-ara. Hal tersebut membuktikan bahwa girlband ini memang multitalent.

     Secara keseluruhan, album milik mereka mengusung tema cinta. Khusus untuk single Potently, SPICA ingin memberi tahu semua cewek di dunia untuk tidak cengeng dan pasrah dengan pasangannya. Kalau memang kekasihmu sering berbohong dan memberi kepalsuan, buat apa di pertahankan lagi. Intinya, cewek juga harus berani speak-up. Pihak B2M Entertaiment akan melaunching lagu satu per satu. Pihak manajemen juga berencana me-launching setiap single langsung satu paket dengan video musiknya.
